Held in Reserve
The cellars we are allowed into, the lists we are kept off, and the bottles that never reach a shelf. On the architecture of access.
A Note from Us
The Month AheadThis is a letter about access — what it is, how it is built, and why it matters more than the thing it gets you to. We are asked, often, how we get the tables, the tickets, the houses. The honest answer is that access is not a favour. It is an architecture, and it takes years to build.
What follows is a short account of how it is constructed, and a few of the rooms it opens — in five minutes of reading.

The Escape
Destination of the monthA restored masseria outside Ostuni, in Puglia. Set in its own olive grove, with a pool that catches the last of the evening light, and a single road that ends at the gate. The house sleeps eight. The cook is local. The wine is from the next village.
Puglia in June is before the heat, before the crowd, and before the prices rise. The masseria is not on the open market. We release it only to members. If you would like the week, write to the desk and we will hold it.
The Experience
A recent client arrangementA member asked for a tasting at a domaine in Burgundy that does not receive visitors. The cellar holds vintages back to 1929. It is open to a list of perhaps thirty names, kept in a notebook, updated by hand. We are on it.
We proposed the member's name. The tasting was arranged for a Saturday in June — three hours, twelve bottles, and a conversation with the winemaker that was not about wine. The member left with two magnums that were never offered for sale. The favour was the visit. The bottles were the proof of it.
Concierge Tip
One insider recommendationIf you want a table at a restaurant that is fully booked, do not ask for a table. Ask for the bar. The bar at most great restaurants is the room the maître d' controls directly, and it is often the best seat in the house. We can hold one for you on an hour's notice. The food is the same. The access is not.
The Final Note
Until next monthJune is a month for being outside — in a garden, at a table, on a river. We wish you a prosperous month ahead, with access where you did not expect it and a table where there was none.
The next letter arrives at the turn of July. If there is anything you need — a villa, a table, a journey — One Call. Endless Possibilities.
